JARS — Joint Assessment & Risk Surveyor
Local-first multimodal wearable research platform for postural orthostatic analysis.
Evaluation Targets
Academic research evaluation benchmarks for the JARS wearable prototype across four target domains.
Heart Rate Accuracy Target
Acquired by the wrist module (MAX30102 optical sensor) with photoplethysmography signal processing.
Posture Classification Target
Acquired by the knee/thigh module (MPU6050 accelerometer) classifying stable sitting versus standing.
Standing Duration Tracking Target
Monotonically tracked while stable upright standing is maintained to detect prolonged orthostatic stress.
Alert Latency Target
Evaluates STANDING && HR_VALID && BPM ≥ 85 && DURATION ≥ 60 s and energizes the thigh motor.
Local-First System Design
Wrist Module (MAX30102) ↔ Knee Module (MPU6050 Accelerometer + Haptic Driver). Real-time decision making runs on-device, while cloud storage serves as the audit registry.

Local-First Architecture: Real-time monitoring, 50 Hz posture classification, and vibration alert decisions happen entirely on the physical hardware via direct Wi-Fi sync between the wrist and knee ESP32 modules. The devices do not depend on the website or cloud to trigger alerts. Devices upload records in the background to the cloud server when connected to an external router.
Academic Research Prototype Notice
JARS is an experimental research prototype, not a clinically certified medical device or commercial diagnostic tool. Targets are research evaluation benchmarks for a 30-trial validation study, not pre-existing commercial claims.
